small point, home is not live. PSN is live. (well, sony's equivalent at least) Home is some sort of quasi-social networking pre-game chatroom thing. It will not make resistance (for example) any better or worse as an online game. Surely thats the point, right?
SHMEE, with every passing day you sound more deranged and out of touch with reality. Games are not good, bad, amazing, or anything UNTIL THEY ARE FINISHED! One bad design decision can wreck an awesome game (anyone wanna talk about raiden in MGS2 perhaps?). They may look pretty, the initial impressions of early builds may be really positive, but does that make the finished article a guaranteed system-selling masterpiece? Does it feck. A company makes a great game, does that mean they'll follow...
think the most important thing to remember when people shout about how much the ps3 sold in its first year compared to the 360's first year is the brand power thats behind it. Fact is, the 360 if released at the same time, even if it had better games, would struggle as the playstation brand is so damn strong. Thats not to take away from what the ps3 offers, but m$ knew when they came into the industry they were coming up against two VERY established competitors, and i think it would be unreal...
read the text of the article, then read the text of the article posted about the mgs4 release on the 360. I'm sure you'll find they look strangely similar.

completely agree - it has a similar feel to old school multiplayer shooters like q3, which unfortunately i was never a big fan of. To me, multiplayer shooters have moved on so much (COD4, Halo 3, HL2 for example) that UT3 just seems like an old game with a new lick of paint.
hype doesnt make it a bad game. Can we please go a day on this site without someone mentioning uncharted? Talk about overrated, jeez!
no problems here - maybe a bit slower than i'm used to, but fine otherwise...is it just the US servers maybe?
glad uncharted didnt get a nomination (although some of the other choices are a bit odd) - i dont believe it deserved to be considered as its only a good, not a great game.

if it completely eliminates load times, i'm definately getting the ps3 version. Early coverage of the game has suggested its blighted by repeated loads in between combat sequences, so this is a superb way to take advantage of the guaranteed hd space in the ps3.
That is the sort of feature that makes the ps3 version of multiplatform games more attractive - long may it continue!
It might have been a crap controller, but its existence proves that m$ have already tried this in the past, and been burned (lets face it, the sidewinder wasn't exactly a commercial success). Fact is, motion sensing controls were a risk at the outset for this generation - nintendo went all in, and succeeded, sony played it cautious and came up with a fairly sucky partial attempt at it, and m$ played safe and did nothing at the start.

i agree it feels somewhat rushed. I dont think they quite got the pacing right, the weapon balance is slightly off, the bots are very very easy to read (ok, they are only meant to be practice for multiplayer but a bit more effort would have been good) and the single player game seems just like an after-thought.
I actually prefer UT2004 on the pc - i dont think, despite looking great, that the new Unreal engine really does anything for the game - UT2004 had more character about ...

i cant read the article (probably a good thing) but i'm definately looking forward to this - rts games on consoles have come a long way (thanks in no small part to EA!) and if ensemble do what they are capable of (AoE games are really good) it should be very good. (Still not a patch on using a mouse and keyboard though!)
My only reservation is the lack of unique units that might hurt the game - they'll have to be given decent artistic license with the existing halo universe to ...
bozobucketeer - agreed - definately dont buy uncharted - just rent it. You'll see all there is to see in a fairly short time. I'd suggest buying r&c myself - brilliant fun.
the only problem with reporting something as offensive is you cant read it! the suspense just makes it more intruiging!
